also i feel y'all. I think if we keep on making battles we'll see this site get back up and running in no time. keep up the good fight, art is important for basically everyone! < 3
hi, coming from the botbsphere. i was gonna write a whole big shitthing on this but changing pages erased my thing. soz
2a03fox has the right idea. right now, gbm is basically botb's summer home. as in: botbrs are using this site, intentionally or not, as their botb away from botb, making alternative stuff from what they usually do on that site. while that's ok on a person-to-person basis, i think the reason why this site burned out so quick is because the community was basically botb but on a different site. i see a ton of botbrs that are active right now on this site, which i think for the highest echelon to be almost (if not outright) solely from another, very similar site is fucked up in a sense?
i feel like if we foster a community different from that one, one that emphasized the differences between this one and botb, would it last longer in terms of activity. i.e. get some writers and photographers into gbm, invite friends who didn't know of either of the sites, host more scraps and moshes and less riots, etc. gbm could very easily be seen as "battle of the bits but with grime", which i feel like it wholeheartedly does not deserve. with the amount of time multi has put into this site to make it feel unique while retaining the quality of the backbone of the site - the competitions and submissions - to call it diet botb is almost an insult, honestly.
not saying anyone does, at least not anyone i know of does it. i'm just ranting and raving about this site. for the concepts it presents and executes on (and it executes them quite well at that) it deserves more activity for sure.
i'm probably also saying this way after the issue has been resolved but what's new abt that 4 me lmao
