"RNG vibe check"
A new series of monthly Gravity Break Media battles
---
* Story
The AI may become sentient, and/or too powerful, and this may lose all of the humans' jobs as artists...
but rest assured, the AI still needs humans to work for it!
Despite it being a fast learner, it still needs a lot of human material to work.
Would you be kind enough to provide this AI with your help, so that it may replace you?
PHILOSOPHICAL NOTE: This is obviously a joke. Don't worry, nobody will ever lose their jobs as artists: the AIs to this day still do so many things wrong, unless specifically instructed BY THE HUMANS to be exactly of a certain way with precision, and even if and when that precision will be spot on, it will still forever be just what it always was meant to be: an AI's definition of "art". Possibly, a mere copy-paste of human art. But even in the best scenarios, the AIs will still originally be created by humans, and thus the AI's art and artistic value can still only be defined as human.
...
Wait, wasn't this topic meant to discuss the new idea I had? Right.

* Summary
Here's how the battles will play out.
There will be a battle per month, as long as y'all want it to be this way.
Although between each battle there has to be at least a 2 weeks (14 days) period, you will NOT know exactly on which days the battles will take place until they appear on the site.
This is an integral part of the showdown, as I'll explain later on.
I'll try to give at least a 3 hour notice per battle for you to hopefully see them and prepare.
The battles will be 3 hours long each, and they will all be music battles, and allgear.
If someone has any concerns or issues with this series of battles, feel free to let me know.
I reserve the right to change or cancel the battles, their dates, and/or any of their aspects for any reason, as long as it's at least 3 hours before said battles take place, to leave space for the notice. Any eventual change or cancellation will be updated here.
The type of each battle will be as follows:
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Mosh Riot Boss Mosh Riot Boss Mosh Riot Boss Mosh Riot Boss
Each battle will have a semirandomly generated objective based on the year's progress percentage, and on the current number of the month. The parameters that will be semirandomly generated will be:
* Time Signature (one per battle)
* Genres (up to 3)
* Rhythms/Tuplets (up to 3) (you can use any other rhythms along with these, as long as you include these)
* Moods/Themes (OBLIGATORY) (up to 3; same across all song sections) (for each digit of N, you can choose any amount of the 5 corresponding moods/themes; see below)
* Challenge (one per battle)
The parameters that can have more than one outcome, mean that they will have to belong to one of the maximum of 3 sections. You can have any transition you'd like between each section.
Please keep in mind, that you do NOT have to follow all of the objective parameters exactly; given the experimental state of this type of battle, and more importantly to respect the fact that not everyone wants to do everything, you can, for each battle, change WHICH and HOW MANY of the semirandomly generated parameters of the objective you may follow; however, they need to be AT LEAST 2, one of which is OBLIGATORILY the "Moods/Themes".
Any unspecified parameters are up to you. This means that you can always freely change things such as the tempo/BPM.
Now lemme explain how the algorithm works. If you don't have time to read beyond here, you don't have to, this is just for clarity's sake, in case you get confused by the objectives; or in case there isn't enough space for me to write the objectives entirely.
If this last case in particular happens, the objectives could be written in a more "compact" way, meaning that I could, instead of writing each parameter in full, only write which numbers were picked for each parameters. In this case, you will have to read this to fully understand the objective; sorry.
Btw, as of now I'm doing all of the calculations myself (except for the RNG), I haven't actually written a program for this yet, since it is pretty humanly doable anyway.
Thank you all, good luck, and have fun!

* Year progress percentage (from 0.000% to 100.000%)
Various times, throughout this algorithm, we will take into consideration the year's progress percentage (in number of days, not months):
- Its integer digits (from 1 to 3 digits) are represented by the variable N.
- Its first 3 decimal digits are represented by the variable M.
The time zone used for this will be the Italian one: UTC+1.
NNN.MMM%
---
* Time Signature (one per battle)
The time signature numerator is the Xth prime number (starting from 2, of course),
where the variable X is the number of the month, from 1 to 12.
However, when X equals 7 or higher, 6 will be subtracted from it.
Thus, the time signature numerators will be the first 6 prime numbers, each repeated twice throughout the year:
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
2 3 5 7 11 13 2 3 5 7 11 13
The time signature denominator doesn't really matter in this context, so you may choose any number.
For simplicity's sake, in the battles' objectives, the written denominator will be 4, but again, you can choose.
---
* Genres (one for each digit of M) (up to 3; one for each section, in any order you'd like)
(for each digit of M, you can choose any amount of the corresponding genres)
0. ANY GENRE
1. Pop / Rap / Folk
2. Classical / Orchestral
3. Jazz / Blues
4. Chiptune / Fakebit
5. Rock / Metal
6. Experimental / Ambient
7. Electronic / Trance / Drum & Bass / Dubstep
8. Hardcore / Breakcore / Psycore / Speedcore
9. LoFi / Hip Hop / Vaporwave
---
* Rhythms/Tuplets (one for each digit of M) (up to 3; one for each section, in any order you'd like)
(you can use any other rhythms along with these, as long as you include these)
0. ANY RHYTHM
1. Random number between 10 and 20 (a Random Number Generator will be used for this)
2-9. The number itself
---
* Moods/Themes (OBLIGATORY) (one for each digit of N) (up to 3; same across all song sections)
(for each digit of N, you can choose any amount of the 5 corresponding moods/themes)
0. Apathetic / Lazy / Tired / Asleep / Black
1. Casual / Insecurity / Bored / Goofy / Brown or Blue
2. Everyday Routine / Typical Day / Down-to-Earth / Normality / Cyan or Orange
3. Nature / Animals / Plants / Life-Changing / Green
4. Love / Affection / Emotional / Inner Peace / Red
5. Super-Human / High-Tech / Cyborgs / Robots / Gray
6. Fantasy / Ancient / Witchcraft / Spirituality / Purple
7. Mystic / Magical / Enchanting / Surprise / Yellow
8. Surreal / Confidence / Extra-Dimensional / Out-of-Body Experience / White
9. Excited / Crazy / Wacky / Going All Out / Rainbow
---
* Challenge (one per battle) (sum of all digits of N)
(if all the digits of N are the same number, instead of the sum, the result will be 0)
0. Compose the song without hearing anything you're composing. Your playback sound must be as silent as possible (if you're playing live instruments, use earplugs, earphones/headphones or whatever).
1. CHOOSE one of the two following challenges.
OPTION A: When any of your melodies go up or down by a semitone or a whole tone (meaning by a 2nd degree), you can only continue going indefinitely in that same direction without jumping, or jump in the opposite direction by a 4th degree or more.
OPTION B: Vary the song's rhythm as often as possible.
2. In your harmony, use as many consonances as possible.
3. CHOOSE one of the two following challenges.
OPTION A: In any of your melodies, you can only go up or down by a 3rd, 5th, 7th or 9th degree.
OPTION B: In any of your melodies, you cannot go up or down by a whole tone, but only by a semitone or any other degree.
4. Use the "neutral 3rd" in your song (meaning, a minor 3rd augmented by 50 cents, or a Major 3rd diminished by 50 cents). Major and minor 3rds are still allowed, but in moderation.
5. You cannot use the 3rd degree or the 6th degree of the scale in your song. Only the other degrees are allowed.
6. CHOOSE one of the two following challenges.
OPTION A: Use an instrument (or a virtual instrument, or a sample pack) you barely ever used, or a new one entirely.
OPTION B: Use only one instrument (or a virtual instrument, or a single sample), or any number of instances of the same one.
7. In your harmony, use as many dissonances as possible.
8. CHOOSE one of the two following challenges.
OPTION A: Hold some of the notes for as long as possible.
OPTION B: Hold some of the notes for as short as possible.
9. Compose the song using any temperament that is not solely 12-TET (12 Tone Equal Temperament), although 12-TET frequencies can be included. Pitch shift and "detuned" notes are allowed.

Ok then, judging from the comments on 0xb's entry, I guess you guys don't want RNG vibe check. I honestly don't understand what's so difficult about it. You literally just have to look the numbers up on the list. If there wasn't a character limit on the battle objective text box, I'd have put the whole objective in full and you wouldn't even have to look the numbers up. Anyway, I understand it can get a bit weird. Which is why I said you didn't have to follow every rule in the objective.
